Heal the Healer: Spirituality and Traditional/Natural Medicine in Cuba

October 27, 2018 - November 3, 2018

We are still rigorously, and eagerly planning what promises to be an exceptional opportunity to visit, network and engage with the culture and people of Cuba.

The most recent update concerning travel from the United States to Cuba includes the following:

  • The group will be traveling in October, 2018 will be traveling under the People-to-People Exchanges (Section 515.565(b)): U.S. persons (including sponsoring organizations and individuals) who are participating in educational exchanges not involving academic study pursuant to a degree program. GROUP people to people travel (Category 5 –565(b) remains as before.
  • In general, most of the U.S. individuals and groups now traveling to Cuba may not stay at or eat at or buy goods from any of the entities on the “Prohibited List.” No “direct financial transactions” can take place between individuals and/or groups and the entities on the list.
  • The U.S. Department of State’s list of entities on the prohibited list are sub-entities under the control of, or acting for or on behalf of, the Cuban military, intelligence, or security services or personnel with which direct financial transactions would disproportionately benefit such services or personnel at the expense of the Cuban people or private enterprise in Cuba. For example, MINFAR — Ministerio de las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias, Hostal Valencia (Habaguanex), Casa del Abanico (Habaguanex, stores), and APCI — Agencia de Protección Contra Incendios, military).

We will not be staying or utilizing any of the restricted entities on the list, and group travel to Cuba under the “people to people” license remains the same!

1st Annual International “Heal the Healer: Spirituality and Traditional/Natural Medicine” conference in Havana, Cuba. Experience includes a 5-day tour of the beautiful, historic city of Havana; and a two-day conference examining “Spirituality and Traditional Natural Medicine.” Speakers will be from the US and Cuba. The goal of the conference is to examine spirituality, health and healing, and evidence based traditional/natural medicine modalities. It will provide an opportunity for practitioners and participants to network, exchange best preventive health practices, and support in maintaining one’s own health.

Estimated costs include land accommodations and transportation, daily breakfast (some lunch and dinners), English Speaking tour guide, daily program (including conference), visa, Cuban health insurance, and air (from New Jersey, and possibly Miami).   Accommodations will be at a Hotel National de Cuba (4-star hotel). Visits include Old Havana, Museum of the Revolution, Community Project, Organic Farm, Museum of Guanabacoa, Church of the Virgin of Regla, and Varadero (beach area). Most important update, we were able to offer a great incentive for those who register before January 15, 2018. A $150 reduction in cost for both single and double rates! The estimated cost, if deposit is received before 1/15/2018 is $2,600 (double) and $3,000 (single). The reduced deposit is $300 due by January15, 2018. Start saving your monies for the trip, because the payment plan will start in February!

I know a couple of people have expressed concerns about the recent changes to travel to Cuba. I have been traveling to Cuba since 2005 and providing educational experiences for the past seven years; and if you want to visit and experience a place with a unique culture and history the right time is now!
