Heal the Healer: Spirituality and Traditional/Natural Medicine in Cuba
October 27 - November 3
We are still rigorously, and eagerly planning what promises to be an exceptional opportunity to visit, network and engage with the culture and people of Cuba.
The most recent update concerning travel from the United States to Cuba includes the following:
- The group will be traveling in October, 2018 will be traveling under the People-to-People Exchanges (Section 515.565(b)): U.S. persons (including sponsoring organizations and individuals) who are participating in educational exchanges not involving academic study pursuant to a degree program. GROUP people to people travel (Category 5 –565(b) remains as before.
- In general, most of the U.S. individuals and groups now traveling to Cuba may not stay at or eat at or buy goods from any of the entities on the “Prohibited List.” No “direct financial transactions” can take place between individuals and/or groups and the entities on the list.
- The U.S. Department of State’s list of entities on the prohibited list are sub-entities under the control of, or acting for or on behalf of, the Cuban military, intelligence, or security services or personnel with which direct financial transactions would disproportionately benefit such services or personnel at the expense of the Cuban people or private enterprise in Cuba. For example, MINFAR — Ministerio de las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias, Hostal Valencia (Habaguanex), Casa del Abanico (Habaguanex, stores), and APCI — Agencia de Protección Contra Incendios, military).
We will not be staying or utilizing any of the restricted entities on the list, and group travel to Cuba under the “people to people” license remains the same!

I know a couple of people have expressed concerns about the recent changes to travel to Cuba. I have been traveling to Cuba since 2005 and providing educational experiences for the past seven years; and if you want to visit and experience a place with a unique culture and history the right time is now!
