Human Services Providers and Consumers
This program consists of a series of spiritually based health education programs aimed at improving participants’ knowledge, sensitivity, and skill in preventive health behaviors such as maintaining a balanced diet, engaging in regular exercise, and promoting stress reduction. Activities include women’s health day activities, monthly healing circles, and health skills workshops including mindfulness practices that encourage participants to “take ownership” of their health. An example of services provided includes, the “Women’s Health and Wellness Day: Taking Ownership” event offered by the MAAT Center in partnership with the Rutgers University- Newark Campus, Rutgers University- School of Nursing, and the American Heart Association.
